New Year's Eve Look: The Seventh Day of Christmas

My picks for a New Year's Eve look: Make Up For Ever's Glitter in Gunmetal, Bobbi Brown's Smokey Cool Eye Palette, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper, and MAC Lipglass in Hellbound.

What better time of year is there for fun, fabulous makeup than New Year's Eve? I came up with a simple look involving these products:

1) Make Up For Ever Glitter: Midnight Glow Gunmetal 15

If you can't wear glitter on New Year's Eve, when can you? I'm still mastering the technique with glitter application, but dampening the brush and patting a little into a small area seems to be working well so far. There is moderate fallout. I'm not sure of a way to minimize this with loose glitter—even mixing it with Illamasqua's Sealing Gel didn't eliminate it. If you have some tips and tricks for glitter application, please share in the comments! The good news is that the colour, Gunmetal, is lovely—it catches the light, yet it's subtle (for glitter!).

2) Bobbi Brown's Smokey Cool Eye Palette

I nabbed one of these just a few weeks ago at Holt Renfrew, and I'm so glad I did! This palette is a mix of glitter, shimmer, and matte shadows. It consists of Ivory (cream - matte), Graphite (a slightly plummy grey-brown - sparkle), Smokey Grey (medium neutral grey - shimmer), Truffle (pinky beige - matte), Platinum (light greyish silver - sparkle), and Caviar (deep blackish-brown - matte). The glitter is beautifully fine, and there is very minimal fallout. The glitters are on the sheer side (they're intended that way), but buildable, and the other colours have about medium pigmentation. All are soft and easy to blend. I love this for a soft grey smokey eye. I don't feel the need to add another colour, and the darkest colour, Caviar, is great for a liner. It's limited edition and sold out online, but you could try your local Bobbi Brown counter like I did.

3) Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper

This is a felt-tip liquid liner in jet-black. Even I can usually pull off a cat eye with this product. Easy to use and longwearing. Love it!

4) MAC Lipglass in Hellbound

This lipglass is from MAC's new Metallic Nude Collection, and I reviewed it this week. Have a look. It's a winner—warm red with gold shimmer.

Bonus: I thought I'd need a really subtle, neutral cheek with this look (something like MAC Tenderling, a go-to for me), but I ended up using NARS Super Orgasm blush (which I reviewed several months ago), and I loved it!

What did you wear for New Year's Eve? Link to your looks in the comments! I'd love to see them.

Happy New Year, everyone! See you tomorrow.

Disclosure: With the exception of the glitter, these products were purchased by Eyeshadow Addict. The glitter was provided by MUFE for my consideration.
