My Spring 2014 Beauty Wish List

I can't tell you how many times in the last year I thought, "Okay, I'm done buying makeup! I'm finished! BANNED! Makeup is coming out of drawers in my bathroom! It's draining my account! It's taking over…"

Then the jerks at Hourglass or NARS or something like that have to go and release something stunningly beautiful. Ugh. You feel me, right?

Anyway, as much as I try to resist…my mental wish list grows. And here, it comes to fruition. Perhaps if I share, we can compare notes. And emotional support. What do you think?

1) NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Kauai

Usually I'm more of a plummy purple kind of gal, but this colour combination is so stunning, the duo has received such great reviews, and it looked so awesome in this pic of Jessica from Beautezine (is this reference weird?) that I'm sold. I'm hoping to get my little paws on it (or at least pre-order it) at a masterclass this week at the NARS counter downtown. Cross your fingers for me, friends.

2) Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Naked Rose

This isn't a new product, but I stumbled across it in this post and was hooked. It's the most beautiful, neutral shade of cool beige-pink. So many of my blushes are either warm or bold—I think this will be subtle, yet slightly fresher looking than my go-to neutral blushes, Tenderling and The Perfect Cheek by MAC, which seem a little browner. Note that the promo image above is way off. Check out the post above or this post by Temptalia for more accurate colour.

3) Ambient Blush by Hourglass.

This tweet really says it all:

I saw the announcement, and my eyes got big. The memory of Dim Light Ambient Lighting Powder virtually Photoshopping my face came to mind. I imagined a similar effect with the beautiful flush of a blush, and I was ruined. All I need to figure out now is the shade—I hear they pull warm, so I'm thinking of either Mood Exposure or Ethereal Glow—they look pinker. What do you think?

4) Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara

Beautezine rated it in her 2013 faves, and I'm always on the hunt for THE magic black mascara. Could this be it? One can hope. Especially with a name like that. My, my.

5) Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Hollow

I've been a leetle obsessed with contouring my roundish facial features lately (too many cookies), and it's been rough finding exactly the right colour. MAC Sculpt is a tad warm. NARS Laguna isn't too bad, but it is a bit warm. MAC Omega is a good, cool colour, but the small size (it's an eyeshadow) is a bit awkward. Hollow looks like it would suit my fair, cool complexion perfectly, and I'm intrigued at the prospect of a cream contour. It seems like it would be easy to blend with my foundation, that it would look natural, and that it would last with a bit of setting powder. I'm excited to try it. Have any of you used it?

(Canadian beauties: Order or buy this from Hudson's Bay! As Tracy at Beauty Reflections pointed out, it's cheaper than Sephora! HA!)

What do you think of these products? Any suggestions? Do you have a wish list for this spring? What's on it? Do share in the comments!
