Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in Whimsical: Review and Photos

Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in Whimsical.

Who doesn't love a foolproof pink lip? What about a foolproof pink lip on a BUDGET? Be still my beating heart…if you haven't already, you must head to your nearest drugstore and pick up Revlon's Colorburst Lacquer Balm in Whimsical, a medium-sheer, cool purplish pink with silver micro glitter. It's cheap, it's easy to apply, and the colour is lovely—bright enough to be fun, and subtle enough for the office. It now lives permanently in my purse.

Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in Whimsical applied. Is it fabulous or is it fabulous?

It's not long wearing, but it doesn't claim to be. And sometimes I have a love/hate relationship with crayon-like packaging. On one hand, it's wonderfully simple: there is, of course, no twisting (unless you're running low and you need a little more). It's also darned cute. On the other hand, I'm not inclined to let in hang loose in my big ol' purse, because I'm afraid the cap will pop off. It's true that this has only ever happened with my NARS lip crayon—not with either of my Revlon crayons. But I'm not interested in testing the Revlon caps. Pink lippie all over my purse would be way uncool. So it lives happily in my purse makeup kit. (Yes, I have a purse makeup kit. No judging.)

The verdict: It's one of my favourite lip products to reach for when I'm reapplying mid-day at work. If you're not afraid of the packaging, you should try it!

Rating: Four stars out of five.

Available: Anywhere "drugstore" makeup is sold,  including Shoppers Drug Mart, Target, and London Drugs, for about $10 Canadian.

Have you tried any of Revlon's Colorburst Lacquer Balms? Are their lip products not wonderful?
