With the launch of Make Up For Ever's new Artist Rouge Lipstick range, this little line of lip products are being overshadowed—but they're awesome!
I'm talking about the Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Lip colours. There are four, all in varying shades of red. The two-sided pen features a lipstick with a lovely narrow bullet on one end, and a sponge-tip applicator that dips into a firm, shimmery powder on the other. You apply the lipstick (which is one of the most comfortable, smooth formulas I've tried) as usual. Then you pat a little of the shimmer product on the centre of your pout to give the illusion of fullness. It's different, but I have to say I like it! It does look even prettier and more natural in photos than in person (which is either a pro or a con depending on what you're looking for). Here's a look:
Isn't that a beautiful, rich berry colour? I love it. It's said to be a matte finish, but I'd call it a satin.
You do have to be careful not to apply too much of the white shimmer. In photos, it looks like the light is hitting my lips just so. But it actually changes the colour of the lipstick, which can look a little odd in person. But hey, if you like that dramatic look—you do you!
Make Up For Ever's Pro Sculpting Lip colours are available at Sephora for $32. In addition to the shade I have here, 50 (Purple), there's also Rosewood, Rust, and Carmine Red.
