Make Up For Ever Artist Liquid Matte: Review and Photos

Make Up For Ever Artist Liquid Matte Lipsticks in (left to right) 101 Cream Beige, 103 Warm Beige, and 203 Cold Pink.

If you're a makeup aficionado, the liquid lipstick craze that has overtaken YouTube is not news to you. But liquid lipsticks that are comfortable and don't suck all the moisture out of your lips might be, right?

Enter Make Up For Ever's Artist Liquid Matte Lipsticks, which have an intensely pigmented, mousse-like formula that sits lightly on the lips, dries matte, and wears well. Trust Make Up For Ever to take a product that everyone else does, dial up the pigment, and blow the formula out of the water—am I right?

One of my favourite things about these lipsticks, oddly, is how they wear off. Some liquid lipsticks are so long-wearing that you almost have to chip them off. You end up with a patchy ring around your lips. Not cute. These wear off very much like regular lipsticks—just not as quickly!

I have three shades to show you: today 101 Cream Beige, 103 Warm Beige, and 203 Cold Pink.

Note that 101 and 103 are quite similar. 103 is actually a touch cooler, in spite of the name.

Cold Pink is definitely my favourite of the three. It reminds me very much of BITE Beauty's Mauvember. The cool tones make my skin look bright and healthy—don't you think?

Application tip:

You need very little of this product. You can apply with the doe-foot applicator, but I find it applies a little more product than you need. This will make your lipstick take forever to dry, and more likely to crack. I suggest using a lip brush, or if you're lazy like me, apply with the doe-foot, but then blot with some tissue before it dries.

You can find Make Up For Ever Artist Liquid Matte Lipstick at Sephora for $25 Canadian. Right now they have 15 shades, and I hope we'll see more soon.
