The absentee blogger returns! I was scurrying around to finish up a course I took through May and June, and I've been beautifully, blissfully free over the last week. It seems like luxury to *only* have to go to work! How is your summer going?
This week's review is all about lips: I've developed a beautiful relationship with MAC Lustre lipsticks. They're everything I ever wanted from tinted lip glosses, but never found:
1) Lip glosses are slippery and annoyingly sticky. Lipsticks—mostly—stay awhile, and I don't need to worry about my hair sticking to my lips as I walk to work on a windy day!
2) Lip glosses provide a little colour, but a very unnatural amount of shine. I don't like this. MAC Lustre lipsticks—which are a little sheer—provide some colour with a little shimmer and shine. Perfect.
MAC Capricious, which is a lovely plummy pink with a bit of gold shimmer, is one of my favourite shades. It's like my lip colour, but deeper and with a little more oomph.
Capricious lasts a few hours without eating or drinking (no liner), which isn't incredible, but falls within my perfectly acceptable range. Most lip products don't last terribly long on me because I tend to purse my lips and rub them together a lot (nervous habit).
I wouldn't call Capricious hydrating, but it's not drying either. If you need a little extra moisture, add some balm about 20 minutes before you're ready for lipstick, and you'll be good to go.
Ready for a look?
As you can see, it's a little sheer, which is perfect for every day. The colour will vary slightly based on the colour of your lips. It looks great with almost any makeup look, and it's easy to apply quickly when you're on the go. It's moist enough that it applies smoothly, with no drag.
Here it is on:
Would I repurchase? Yes, I would. This is a fantastic everyday shade. It lives permanently in my handbag.
Rating: Four and a half stars out of five. I'd love it if it lasted just a tad longer.
Available: Maccosmetics.com and anywhere MAC cosmetics are sold for $18 (Canadian).
Have you tried Capricious? What did you think? Let me know in the comments!
