Friends, I have a confession: I can't do the crazy-coloured eyeshadow. Purple, or maybe a muted green, is about as crazy as I go. And at work? Well, it tends to be brown, brown, brown. Eyeliner is a way to sneak in a little pop of colour, but in a subtle way.
That's part of what I like about Make Up For Ever's new Artist Liner: It comes in 15 different shades and five finishes, including a bright turquoise, a vibrant purple, and the shade I'm reviewing today, called Iridescent Green Tree (I-34).
But the colour options are far from the best thing about this liner: Make Up For Ever deserves some serious props for this formula. It's creamy, it's intensely pigmented, and it glides on—we're talking opaque in one swipe, no problem! And when it's on, it doesn't move. I needed to use a serious remover before the swatches on my hand would budge!
In terms of formula, quality and ease of use, I'd say it stacks up to Marc Jacobs' Highliner Gel Crayon, and it's $11 less. Bam! I love it when a pencil rivals a gel liner in terms of how it looks and performs—don't you? Who has time to wash a brush when you need to get to work?
Here's what it looks like:
See that intense green colour? Love it! Sometimes, if I want a bold, graphic look, I'll wear it as-is over some shadow. One of my favourite ways to wear it, though, is under a golden-brown shadow like MAC Woodwinked. Here's a peek:
The verdict: If you're in the market for a coloured liner, or you're more of a black/brown fan and you need something that is easy to apply and doesn't smudge, check out Make Up For Ever Artist Liner. MUFE's new releases have been rocking it, and this is no exception.
Rating: Five stars out of five. Can't find anything to complain about! (Shocked?)
Available: Sephora stores and Sephora.ca for $19 Canadian (you get 0.01 oz).
