Guest Post: An Eye Look Featuring NEON!

A neon face of the day courtesy of Sarah from Workaday Ramblings.

Hello, I'm Sarah from Workaday Ramblings. Amy was kind enough to let me take over today and share a neon look today as part of the Canadian Beauty Blogger guest post series.

I was looking to do a neon nail art look, since I've been really into those lately, but with eyeshadow in Amy's blog name, I obviously had to change my plan and do a neon eye look instead.

Neon eyeshadow isn't something you'll find on most drugstore shelves, so I went with an indie brand: Sarah's Naturals. I used two shadows, Lemon Lime and Lime.

I started with a white base using Essence Stays No Matter What Jumbo Eye Pencil & Shadow in Whipped White Frosting, which is my standard white primer. I then dabbed on Lemon Lime on the inner half, and Lime on the outer half, blending into my crease and beyond.

added some Marcelle Ultimate Volume mascara, which does exactly what you'd expect, adding lots of volume. I finished with some light blush and lip gloss so my eyes kept all the attention.

Neon eyeshadow isn't something I'd wear every day, but it's definitely fun to play with, especially on hot summer days. Have you ever tried a super bright eye look?

Thanks so much to Amy for letting me share my neon look today!

Beautiful work, Sarah! Thanks for sharing!

Guest Post: Chelle From Makeup Your Mind Shares an Orange Look!

Hey everyone! My name is Chelle and I’m taking over Amy’s blog today to share my look for the Canadian Beauty Bloggers theme of the month: Orange! If you like what you see, maybe come take a peek over at my space on the Internet—I blog about makeup with a side of fitness on Makeup Your Mind.

I’m a huge user and abuser of vibrant makeup, especially eyeshadows. If there’s an opportunity to use colour, I’ll take it! With this month’s theme being orange, I took full advantage.

To balance out the very bright monochromatic orange look on my eye lids, I opted to go for more of a pinky-coral on my cheeks and lips.

The vibrancy of the shadows make a bold statement, so I made sure to ground it with some black liner. Plus, I love me some winged liner, so it’s very rare that I don’t add one in!

Here’s how to get the look:

  1. Makeup Geek Peach Smoothie through the top of the crease.

  2. Makeup Geek Chickadee all over the lid.

  3. Makeup Geek Poppy on the outer corner and through the crease.

  4. Makeup Geek Vanilla Bean on brow bone.

  5. Naked Cosmetics IV-04 pigment on the inner corner.

I used Poppy on the outer corner of the lower lash line and used Chickadee for the remainder of the lower lash line. I then created the wing with Kat Von D Tattoo Liner inTrooper and tightlined with Urban Decay‘s Black Velvet liner. On my lashes is essence‘sLash Princess mascara.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in 52 Vanilla

  • Contour: Makeup Geek Barcelona Beach eyeshadow

  • Blush: Tarte Charisma

  • Highlighter: MAC Whisper of Gilt

  • Lips: Revlon Papaya gloss

Is orange a colour you’d wear? There is always shades of peach and coral that many consider to be more “wearable”! But me? I’ll stick to the suckerpunching vibrancy that orange can deliver!
