It's the most wonderful time of the year...
Bonus Time at Clinique!
Seriously, I can't resist it. Even though I'm starting to accumulate multiples of certain products...the appeal of free skincare and makeup is too much to resist. True, there are some products they offer over and over again (like High Impact Mascara), but I always end up with a colour or two I haven't tried.
Right now at Hudson's Bay, if you spend $31 or more, you get this awesome seven-piece set (note that everything is a sample size).
1. Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Serum
It claims to smooth, restore, and correct. I can never manage to add a serum to my skincare routine, so I can't comment on this. Has anyone tried it for an extended period of time?
2. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion +
This is a decent moisturizer—I find it a bit too much for daytime on my normal/combination skin (I wouldn't wear it during the day anyway due to the fact that there's no SPF in it), but I wouldn't say there's anything dramatically different about it. I also don't notice a difference between it and the original lotion. (Though that doesn't necessarily mean the ingredients won't be more beneficial—I'm no expert.)
3. Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Eye Cream
I've used this cream before, and I think it's great for nighttime. It's rich enough that I feel I'm doing my eyes some good overnight, but not too rich—I find some thicker creams meant for all over the face cause little white bumps on the skin around my eyes.
4. Clinique High Impact Mascara
This mascara is a lovely back colour, and it comes with a bigger brush and densely packed bristles. It looks awesome on—it separates, lifts, volumizes, and lengthens—really. The only catch is that on me, it doesn't wear super well. I experience light smudging by the end of the day.
5. Clinique Almost Lipstick in Luscious Honey
Note: There were two colour options with this gift. I chose the "pinks" option.
If you haven't tried Almost Lipstick, you really should—it's one of my favourite lip products! For every day, lipstick is often too high maintenance, lip gloss is usually too sticky, and regular old clear balm is too boring. Almost Lipstick is the perfect combination of all three. It goes on like a balm, adds shine like a subtle gloss, and provides a hint of colour—like a very sheer lipstick. It's great for on the go. Luscious Honey is a beautiful, bright shade of (sheer) pink. Love!
6. Clinique All About Shadow Duo in Day into Date
I was quite excited about this sample—new shadow! Wahoo! The colour on the left is a deep, matte brown. The colour on the right, which is twice the size of the brown, is a sort of champagne-y pink with some shimmer. Very pretty. Note that the colours are on the sheer side—that has nothing to do with quality; that's just Clinique. Their makeup is geared to an audience with more subtle tastes. I find the texture, blendability, and wear time of Clinique shadows to be excellent. Based on my (admittedly limited) experience with swatching these colours, I don't anticipate they will be any different.
7. Polyester Makeup Bag
I now have quite a collection of these bags. Any suggestions on what to do with them? Does Value Village want/sell items like this?
Here are some quick swatches of the Almost Lipstick and the Eye Duo:
BONUS Bonus Item: Clinique Blushing Blush Powder in Precious Posy
At the Hudson's Bay at Vancouver's Pacific Centre, they often offer you an extra bonus item if you pre-order, which I did. (Thanks, Moe!) I received this blush, a beautiful peachy-pink with gold shimmer called Precious Posy.
The colour reminds me of NARS Orgasm, which has been on my wish list recently. Most of my other blushes are pinks. This will be a great addition to my collection. I've worn it once, and given Clinique's tendency to produce sheer colour, I was pleasantly surprised by how pigmented it is!
Clinique Bonus Time at Hudson's Bay ends on October 5. Will you be checking it out?
Disclosure: Eyeshadow Addict received these items as a gift with $31 purchase.
