My name is Melanie and I blog over at I'm Not a Beauty Guru. Amy was kind enough to let me guest post for her this month through the Canadian Beauty Bloggers network. I'm super excited to do this post as the theme is "Worth the Splurge." I definitely have a few products that I would be able to put in that category! Without further ado, this is what I've chosen!
1. Becca Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop
Price: $46 CAD from Sephora
Okay, okay, I know what you're thinking. ANOTHER BLOG POST ABOUT CHAMPAGNE POP. Hear me out, though. I'll make this quick. I've heard such great things about Becca and their highlighters but never really jumped on the bandwagon. When this limited edition shade came out in collaboration with Jaclyn Hill I started to get intrigued. What put me over the edge was seeing all the gorgeous swatches on every skin tone imaginable. So I caved and not only jumped on the bandwagon, but whole-heartily leaped on. This highlighter is amazing. It has an even pigmentation which diffuses and blends like a dream. I don't own very many highlighters at all, and if you're like me, I recommend getting this one because you won't need anything else. It's that good.
2. Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation
Price: $50 CAD at Sephora
When looking up this foundation to confirm the price, I was only able to find the new Ultra HD. Hope that means they didn't discontinue this one! I bought this foundation specifically for my graduation pictures just because all the other foundations I had contained SPF. The price is definitely a doozy. Why I think it's worth the splurge is because it really does make you look awesome in photos. Even if you don't use this every day and just slap it on for special occasions I think it's worth it. I actually use it quite frequently so I'm able to get my money's worth! Every time I look at my grad pictures I think, dang, that foundation looks real good. Can you really put a price on that?! (Probably, but work with me here....)
3. Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer
Price: $37 CAD at Sephora
Make Up For Ever, we meet again. I remember when I first picked this concealer up I was thinking...wow that is a big price tag for a small bottle. Let me just say that I really think this product is worth it. This is the BEST concealer for pimples. Those really dark and red and scary ones too. The consistency is interesting, it has almost a gluey-tacky feel. This is totally okay with me though as I know it will be staying in place. I have never tried it swimming, but I would feel very very confident wearing it to the beach. The formula makes me confident that it won't budge an inch.
4. Macadamia Deep Repair Masque
Price: Around $35 at Shoppers Drug Mart
I think everyone should have a good deep conditioner kicking around in their shower and this is a great one. A reason why I think this is worth the splurge is that it literally lasts you FOREVER. I just finished my first tub of this and it took me over 3 years to finish. THREE. YEARS. Come on, with that lasting power, I think it's pretty worth it. I love this product because it smells so nice and I always feel my hair is deeply moisturized after use.
5. Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette
Price: $64 CAD at Sephora
The Naked 3 was the first luxe palette that I owned. I got it as a gift from my boyfriend and I'm super grateful. I feel like this is one of those rabbit-hole products that really open you up to the world of makeup. Even though this has a pretty hefty price tag, I think it's definitely worth it. All the shadows I've come across in this palette are easy to blend and work so well together. If I were to only have one palette ever (gasp!) I would definitely be fine with this Naked palette. The fact it also comes with a pretty decent dual ended brush helps to prove it's worth the splurge!
6. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper
Price: $23 CAD at Sephora
If you're looking for a black liquid liner, this should be your go-to! I have never, ever used a better liquid liner. This has a brush liner for easy application. Don't let anyone tell you that felt tip liners are the only way to go for ease and precision. This glides on super easily and doesn't budge throughout the day. It's easy to do a cat eye or get right to the lash line. I wholeheartedly recommend this liner! It has holy grail status in my books!
And there we have it, what I think is worth the splurge. I want to thank Amy again for having me guest post on her blog!
