Nails of the Day: Champagne Problems by Trust Fund Beauty

Not terribly long ago, at a little Vancouver beauty bloggers meet-up, I had the privilege of meeting the lovely Stephanie of She's So Eco. Stephanie, a green-beauty-product aficionado,  introduced us to a new line of nail polish called Trust Fund Beauty. In addition to the haute packaging and naughty-ish names such as "I'm Kind of a Big Deal" and "Nip Slip," Trust Fund Beauty products are both cruelty-free and five-free, which means they're made without formaldehyde, camphor, dibutyl phthalate, toluene, and formaldehyde resin. Yay for being non-toxic!

The colour featured above, Champagne Problems, is described as a metallic gold. As far as golds go, it's on the lighter side (less yellow and brassy than some). It also contains tiny specks of glitter. In my view, it's fun enough for a party, but classy enough for the office. It's opaque in one coat, though I'm wearing two in the photo above for good measure. It also lasts a few days on me without chipping, which, for me, is par for the course with most nail polishes. One thing to note about this polish is that it's a bit on the thin side—watch out for drips.

If you're interested in Trust Fund Beauty, you can have a look over at TrustFundBeauty.com. Each polish is $15, and you get 17 ml.

What do you think? Will you be trying any of Trust Fund Beauty's nail polishes?

Pompeii Purple by OPI: Nails of the Day

OPI nail lacquer in Pompeii Purple.

I'm developing a beautiful relationship (literally) with metallic polishes. I love the shine and the complexity of the colours. I chose this baby, Pompeii Purple by OPI, during a manicure I treated myself to during the week of my birthday (the big 3-0!). It's a dark, bold, metallic hot-pink with some bluish-purplish shimmer as it catches the light. Love it!

It was fully opaque in two coats, and with a Sephora Formula X base coat and a top coat by Essie, this lasted a few days before chipping (standard for me).

What do you think? What colours have you been wearing lately? I can't get enough of pinks!

Chanel Le Vernis in Taboo - Nails of the Day: The Eleventh Day of Christmas

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Taboo.

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Taboo.

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Taboo is like a constellation in a bottle. Seriously, it's one of the most complex  nail polish colours I've ever seen—metallic purple with shimmer in red, gold, purple, and probably some other colours I'm missing. It's stunning. In the warmer months I found it too dark, but now, in the winter, I'm loving it. To top it off, it's nearly opaque in just one coat. If only all nail polish was this awesome. Am I right? The price hurts at C$27, but in rare cases (such as this one), I think the splurge is worth it.

Have you tried any of Chanel's nail polishes? What are your favourites?
