This month, thanks to the Canadian Beauty Bloggers Network, I had the opportunity to write a guest post for Stephanie over at beauty infinitum. The theme was orange, which was a stretch for me because I don't typically wear it. I have a lot of pink in my skin, so orange isn't the most flattering colour. Rather than going for a nail post—the easier option—I decided to get creative and create a post for girls like me who typically can't wear orange. This is what I came up with! What do you think?
I’m a huge user and abuser of vibrant makeup, especially eyeshadows. If there’s an opportunity to use colour, I’ll take it! With this month’s theme being orange, I took full advantage.
To balance out the very bright monochromatic orange look on my eye lids, I opted to go for more of a pinky-coral on my cheeks and lips.
The vibrancy of the shadows make a bold statement, so I made sure to ground it with some black liner. Plus, I love me some winged liner, so it’s very rare that I don’t add one in!
Here’s how to get the look:
Makeup Geek Peach Smoothie through the top of the crease.
Makeup Geek Chickadee all over the lid.
Makeup Geek Poppy on the outer corner and through the crease.
Makeup Geek Vanilla Bean on brow bone.
Naked Cosmetics IV-04 pigment on the inner corner.
I used Poppy on the outer corner of the lower lash line and used Chickadee for the remainder of the lower lash line. I then created the wing with Kat Von D Tattoo Liner inTrooper and tightlined with Urban Decay‘s Black Velvet liner. On my lashes is essence‘sLash Princess mascara.
Rest of the Face
Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in 52 Vanilla
Contour: Makeup Geek Barcelona Beach eyeshadow
Blush: Tarte Charisma
Highlighter: MAC Whisper of Gilt
Lips: Revlon Papaya gloss
Is orange a colour you’d wear? There is always shades of peach and coral that many consider to be more “wearable”! But me? I’ll stick to the suckerpunching vibrancy that orange can deliver!
