An Eye of the Day Featuring Too Faced's Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette

Too Faced's Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette.

Some palettes just call out to you from the web page. Too Faced's Peanut Butter & Jelly Eyeshadow Collection was the first Too Faced palette that I just had to have as soon as I saw it. I knew the mix of rusty browns and purples would make my green eyes pop, and who can resist the smell of peanut butter?! Mmmmm....

Here's a closer look:

The price was off-putting. I even tried to convince myself that the Chocolate Bar Palette was better value (it is) and would make me happier (debatable), and bought that. But when the Peanut Butter & Jelly Eyeshadow Collection was released, I couldn't resist. The fact that it was an Ulta and exclusive didn't deter me, though I did cringe at the total when I factored in Too Faced's exorbitant international shipping and the pitiful Canadian price (a whopping $13 more than the US price). But the heart wants what the heart wants!

I had it delivered to my office and busted it out of the packaging right away so I could admire it—and smell it. To me, it smells decidedly like the peanut butter balls my mom makes. They're a delicious mix of peanut butter, icing sugar and chocolate chips. It's a wonderful scent that fills my nose and my heart with happiness.

Performance-wise, I do quite like the palette. I'd like there to be one more purple for balance, and I'd like the purples to be a tad more pigmented, but I can definitely make them work. Overall I don't mind that I overpaid. Much.

Here's a look inspired by this video:

And EOTD featuring Too Faced's Peanut Butter & Jelly Eyeshadow Collection.

  • I started by applying Extra Creamy all over the lid, from lash line to brow bone.
  • I blended Peanut Butter into my crease.
  • I layered Nuts about U over Peanut Butter in my crease and outer corner.
  • I then patted a little bit of Peanut Butter Cup onto the centre of my lid.
  • Finally, I added the bright purple, Jelly, to my lower lash line.

Bright colours in general are a little outside my comfort zone, and I definitely don't usually add them to my lower lash line. But I have to say, Jelly was my favourite part of this look. Next time I wear the Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette, I'll work with even more of the purple—I might even add a purple liner.

Sorry to write about a palette that's hard to find. It may still be in stock at some Ulta stores for $36 US, and the Ulta says it's only temporarily out of stock. If you really want it, try eBay—there are definitely some kicking around. Good luck!
