Review and Photos: Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector

Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector.

Someone at the Clinique counter at the Bay sold this to me as an eye moisturizer because I specifically asked for one in a tube. Any cream packaged in a jar can become unstable and filled with bacteria, so packaging in an opaque tube is always better—though hard to find.

This is a tinted serum that is supposed to reduce the appearance of dark circles—whether through the tint hiding them or through the formula actually reducing them, I'm not sure.

It's a nice, lightweight moisturizer that you can apply with a fingertip or with the metal applicator. I prefer patting it on with the metal applicator—it feels nice and cool, and I tend to use less product that way. Here's what it looks like:

A tiny dab, like the one on my finger, is more than enough for both eyes.

The metal applicator feels good against the skin, and may help reduce puffiness.

It's lightweight enough for daytime, and moisturizing enough for nighttime. A light eye cream is important to me. Many will say that, contrary to popular belief, you don't need a separate cream for your eyes. I disagree—at least, I think it depends on your skin. I have dry/combination skin, so I use a rich moisturizer on my face during the day. If I use the same product under my eyes, little white bumps appear on my skin. Yuck.

As an eye cream, I like this overall. I have two major problems with it, though: First, it does precisely nothing to conceal or correct the circles under my eyes. Nada. The tint barely shows, and the circles under my eyes look exactly the same now as they did a few months ago when I began using it.

Second is the price point. $50 CAD is a LOT for an eye cream—particularly one that isn't perfect and doesn't do what it claims. Beautypedia gives it great reviews, but I'm not satisfied.

Would I purchase again? Nope.

Rating: Two stars out of five.

Available: and anywhere Clinique cosmetics are sold, like Holt Renfrew or the Bay.

Have you tried this eye serum from Clinique? What did you think?
